"Six people are lured into a small Deep South town for a Centennial celebration where the residents proceed to kill them one by one as revenge for the town's destruction during the Civil War. "

Hmm. Not sure how I feel about this one. I've said it before, but it bears repeating. Herschell Gordon Lewis has a distinct approach. As much as I hate the Confederacy as a whole, not all southerners are like this. I know this is just a movie and it's supposed to be in bad, bad taste, but come on. The opening credits song was funny, but Lewis has a tendency to repeat scenes with different characters for no reason. He also takes the piss out of southern people here. I would really like to see the remake/sequel, 2001 Maniacs. I'm sure that's not much better of a representation though. Like Deliverance isn't a proper representation of the South *heavy sigh* Very, very distinct approach. And why the cat at the beginning?

Knowing this was inspired by Brigadoon makes the ending make much more sense. Also, I was expecting the horse pulling scene would be more gruesome.
