An empty fuel tank and a flat tire lead two couples down a terror-riddled road to the House of 1000 Corpses. "House of 1000 Corpses" is at its core a story of a family - a cast of twisted individuals who, with each slash of a throat or stab through the chest, add bodies to their sick human menagerie.

I would so love to see Rob Zombie's original version he did when this was with Universal, but that version's lost I believe. A theater near me will be screening it this month for the movie's 15th anniversary. I'm not sure if I will go, but it is a great movie to watch on the big screen. Who knows?
Sid Haig is so perfect as Captain Spaulding

I haven't seen this in a theater yet! >_< Fingers crossed that it'll screen in Florida at some point but I doubt it ever will.

I do like this movie, but the last time I watched it, it felt like it was trying just a bit too hard to sell the retro-grindhouse aesthetic. I think Rob Zombie pulled it off better with The Devil's Rejects, given that he had more experience under his belt.

Had some similarities with House of Wax, which came later so could that one have been a rip off of it?
I still need to see Devil's Rejects. I want to see the freak family finally get theirs for their murder sprees, ha! I just need to get around to seeing more films directed by RZ at all.

The Devil's Rejects is EASILY his best film. It captured the 70s aesthetic perfectly without feeling like it was trying TOO hard. Tbh, many of these 80s-nostalgia films could take some notes from it. It was firmly embedded in the 70s when it came to the music, fashion, vehicles, and so on without having "look at how retro we are!" flashing in giant lettering lol.
