Segment Breakdown: Sweet Tooth This was okay, but could have benefited from not showing Sweet Tooth at all. Outside of that, the gore was nice.
The Night Billy Raised Hell I think what saved this one the most was the ending, but even then I think it went too far in showing more once the cop cars showed up, as well as having gunshots fired once the screen went to black. Poor taste, I feel. Trick Still not sure how I feel about this one. It just seems like an afterthought. Rushed. Put together with no real goal set in mind. One of the duds, IMO. Don't care for it.
The Weak and the Wicked Somewhat interesting, but not much there. The creature in this also sucked.
Grim Grinning Ghost I really loved the set-up and the story in this one. Acting and direction was good. I just hate, hate, hate the abrupt ending. A real disservice to what was a great lead-up.
Ding Dong This is probably the best one for me. I love Pollyanna McIntosh's acting in this. Really interesting short and an unique spin on a classic fairy tale.
This Means War Even though I like Dana Gould, I just didn't care much for this entry. If there were another written draft of the short or another director it might have been better.
Friday the 31st This has to be the worst short for my money. Pretty damn stupid, and that's something. Too goofy for my taste.
The Ransom of Rusty Rex Not a bad story, just not handled as well as it could have been. The acting was off and the directing too. Still an intriguing story.
Bad Seed Between Ding Dong and this I'm not sure which one is my favorite. I love the Jack-O-Lantern in this. Although the characters could be better, it's played for deadpan laughs, as most of these shorts seem to be. Yet more so here with the cops involvement.
Having Adrienne Barbeau narrate throughout as the Radio Host was my favorite thing though, I'd say. I wish her character had been able to have a story of her own.
So, my favorites are Grim Grinning Ghost, Ding Dong, and Bad Seed. My least favorites are Friday the 31st, Trick, and This Means War.
