With the way the world is today, more and more people are beginning to trust the police less and less, and with good reason. However, whenever you watch a horror movie with a police officer or officers in it what kind of police officer(s) do you tend to favor seeing show up in a horror movie? Do you like the ones that turn out to be the killer(s) themselves, or at the very least aiding the real killer(s)? Do you like the honest cop(s), but essentially they're still ineffective? In a way, think Dewey from the Scream series. Honest and smart? Like Richard Farnsworth's character in Misery. Is there another kind I haven't yet mentioned? Feel free to chime in.

I mean, honest and smart, for me.
As I mentioned, Richard Farnworth's sheriff in Misery is one of my all time favorite horror cops out there. That character and his wife have great scenes together.
The one Tom Atkins plays in Maniac Cop is great too.Granted you could say they're ineffective since both characters die in their respective movies, but I think they gathered enough intel and make enough headway to get or keep the ball rolling in catching the killers. I see ineffective as bumbling. Accident-prone. Dewey from Scream. I can't think of any others off the top of my head right now that fit.
