I still need to watch Beyond the Black Rainbow, but I'm seeing this one tonight with two of my friends. Then afterwards we'll be recording an episode for their podcast about Mandy. Pretty excited. Although I will be missing trivia for this, so, I don't like that. Hopefully it's all worth it though, which I think it will be.

You can definitely see and hear the influence of the '70s and '80s in this flick. Starts out with King Crimson and leads into a real intense score by the late Jóhann Jóhannsson.
The woman who plays Mandy is certainly mesmerizing. You get why Nicolas Cage's character is enamored by her. You get why the character of Jeremiah Sands, the cult leader, is obsessed with her.
One for the books.
A lot of religious imagery.
A modern giallo meets revenge thriller meets satanic cult film meets biker movie meets bad acid trip.
Nicolas Cage is in his element and director Panos Cosmatos knows how to utilize that manicness to perfection.
Cult classic for sure.

I'm SO excited to see this. When that will be, I have no idea since I don't think it screened within 100 miles of my house. I've heard nothing but good things about it, even from some people who are usually fairly picky!
