Dr. Lawrence Gordon (Saw) Alice (Friday the 13th) Imhotep/The Mummy ('32 version) I'll add: everyone from SawWhat, specifically, do you find overrated about Alice and Imhotep?

With Alice she's a bit bland to me. I would have switched her out with the girl who was hitchhiking at the beginning, Annie, to be honest. Have them swap places.
As for Imhotep, at least as the 1932's version is concerned, I find that whole movie overrated. I'll give it another go, but, as it stands, he and that movie are at the bottom of my list out of the original Universal movie monsters. Too boring. Not really scary.

I thought the point of making Annie so sweet was to Janet Leigh her. Make you think she was getting character development so it's more surprising that Alice lives and Annie does not.
I wasn't disagreeing with Imhotep. I do think it's one of Karloff's best performances but the film feels like it has the same structure as Universal's Dracula.

Well, Annie is certainly supposed to be an homage to Janet Leigh's fate in Psycho, but I still would have preferred Alice to have been that character instead.
And yeah. The Mummy definitely borrowed Dracula's structure.

As much as I like and love the Evil Dead series as a whole, the original being my favorite with its first sequel a close second and the TV series, at least after the first season, following right behind that one, I'd have to say Ash is a bit overrated. No offense, Mr. Campbell and Mr. Raimi.
I also feel Angela from Sleepaway Camp is a bit overrated because of the ending, but with both of these characters I feel bad calling them overrated. I didn't feel bad calling Dr. Gordon, Alice, or even the original Mummy overrated.
